New Comarch branch in Innsbruck
Munich, 24.05.2011 – Comarch is expanding its presence in Austria. The company opened a new service platform in the Tyrolean capital in May. In addition to customer support and sales within the greater Innsbruck region, the other main aim of this office is to cooperate closely with the University of Innsbruck in the field of information technology and economics. The university is already the home of the cross-functional “Comarch Innovation Lab”. This provides students with an opportunity to work on innovative projects within the framework of their final dissertations and student projects.
The students, who are specially selected for the “Comarch Innovation Lab”, are able to get suggestions and advice from the staff of Comarch's Innsbruck site as well as having issue-based access to the know-how of this international company across all its sites. Their dissertations and the student projects are supervised by the participating faculties of the University of Innsbruck. The “Comarch Innovation Lab” exists independently of the Semiramis Research and Service Unit (SeReS-Unit) of the Institute of Strategic Management, Marketing and Tourism, a successful long-standing collaboration between Comarch and the University of Innsbruck that focuses on the expert implementation of Comarch Semiramis in teaching and research in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Another research collaboration between Comarch and the University of Innsbruck was inaugurated at the beginning of the year: the QE Lab at the Institute of Computer Science. Among other things, work is being carried out at this Quality Engineering Competence Center on the development of innovative methods and tools in the fields of requirements and quality management. The goal is to improve the recording, analysis, management and validation of rapidly changing requirements within the field of cooperative systems that can also be networked between companies.
To start with, the new office, at Müllerstraße 1, 6020 Innsbruck will employ 11 staff. In addition to collaborating with the university, the main focus of its activities will be customer care and project work including individual customer programming. There are plans to expand the site to 20 staff over time.
- Our presence in Innsbruck will enable us to cultivate our varied relations with the university even more effectively. We see Innsbruck as an ideal venue for the acquisition of highly qualified IT specialists for our company, - explains Comarch CEO Prof. Janusz Filipiak.
In Austria Comarch already has offices in Vienna and Kirchbichl. The company now has approximately 40 staff in Austria and looks after over 500 customers including ALPLA-Werke, Arctic Cat, Blizzard Sport, Botarin, Darbo, Hochfilzer, ifw, ruwido, Steinbacher Dämmstoffe, and Zultner.
