Comarch joins Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance
Comarch, a global provider of IT products and services for telecommunications, announced today that it has become a partner of Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance, a global initiative founded by leading international mobile network operators committed to constant innovation of mobile broadband networks.
Today, operators are challenged with having to manage a variety of network and service production infrastructures, from mobile and fixed network environments up to converged networks and services across regions. This has an enormous impact on network operations, which NGMN targets with its project on “Next Generation Converged Operations Requirements” (NGCOR). The primary objective of this project is to reduce complexity and integration costs in the area of network management by achieving standardized interfaces between the telecom infrastructure and the OSS (Operations Support Systems). NGCOR aims to obtain more flexibility and reduced time-to-market in the introduction of services through standardized network management functionalities for converged fixed and mobile networks.
The NGCOR project will be Comarch’s first involvement in the NGMN Alliance activities after joining the organization. Comarch will support such areas as defining requirements for Network Planning / RAN Optimization, Inventory Management and Configuration Management, as well as Service Assurance.
- It is a great pleasure to have Comarch as our new NGMN Partner contributing to projects that define requirements for future converged network management systems. We look forward to Comarch’s active participation in the project on “Next Generation Converged Operation Requirements” where they will showcase their thought leadership and share vast expertise in the area of smart and cost-efficient IT solutions for next generation networks. – says Dr. Peter Meissner, Operating Officer of the NGMN Alliance.
- We believe that industry standards and an open architecture are the key to reduce cost of network integration processes. They enable operators to focus on delivering an excellent customer experience instead of addressing integration problems. Our priority is to help service providers deliver customer services that cross the traditional technological boundaries and concentrate on this area of innovation. Comarch aims to act in line with NGMN’s objective to drive innovation and standards, that will contribute to a single integrated network for the seamless introduction of mobile broadband services. We are positive, that our experiences from various projects for T1 operators worldwide will come useful in defining these standards. – says Piotr Machnik, Business Development Center Director of Telecommunications Business Unit at Comarch
About NGMN Alliance
The NGMN Alliance was founded by leading international mobile network operators in 2006. Its goal is to ensure that the standards for next generation network infrastructure, service platforms and devices will meet the requirements of operators and, ultimately, will satisfy end user demand and expectations. In its current work programme, the NGMN Alliance addresses the challenges of network deployment, operations, and interworking. Furthermore, the NGMN Alliance will drive and guide the development of all future mobile broadband technology enhancements focusing on LTE & EPC and its evolution. The targets of these activities are supported by the strong and well-established partnership of worldwide leading operators, vendors, universities, and successful co-operations with other industry organisations.
